Welders are responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of assigned area. The welder must work in conjunction with the welder foreman during job operations.  He/she must have the ability to understand and execute orders given by the welder foreman.  He/she must be able to work on offshore platforms during erection of structures, and tie-downs of structures or equipment on barges. Welders must be able to weld piles, shims, and salvage platforms. Must be able to perform general manual labor during barge operations. Welders must have a high degree of physical stamina and ability to work long strenuous hours. Must be certified by a certified welding laboratory and have a Welder qualification test record as proof of welding capabilities. The test record must show testing was performed within the year, and that it meets A.W.S. requirement of 5C or D of AWS D1.1, structural welding code. Minimum test position a welder can be hired in is the 6G position. Testing in the 6GR position is preferred. The welder must be able to weld using the Shield metal Arc Welding (Stick) welding process. Welder must be able to retest upon demand and past test. Must be willing to learn other welding processes such as FCAW, SAW or heli-arc welding. The welder must also be able to use a standard cutting torch as required for cutting loose tie-down braces, plates, etc.

The Riggers are responsible for working in conjunction with the crane operator and welder using cables and slings to move and relocate structural materials. Riggers perform general labor work such as loading and unloading material to and from trucks and barges. Riggers are required to frequently climb and work at elevated heights.
